Hitech Cam..ptv or no ptv
So i ordered a set of Hitech Stage 2's and valve springs the other day. But i've been talking with wannabegearhead and it seems like people either has success with these cams or they dont. So my question is, should i send them back or degree them properly and hope for the best?
also when installing cams, besides valve springs i wont need anything else will i?

I know I sent you this link already but for those who have never seen it.

This is just one of the many threads people have had with Hitech Stage 2 cams.
Direct quotes from Nick McKinney in the thread linked above for those who don't want to read the whole thread:
"I have one set of heads at the shop right now for bent intake valves from these cams and another person called yesterday and found his 8 intake valves bent as well from a fresh install. Supposedly they are telling people there is 0.1" of clearance with these cams on a stock motor, but when I measure I get -0.001" at their specified centerline. Funny that these cams use the same intake lobe as the Comp 270AH and everybody knows of the PTV problems with those cams.................."
"I haven't seen significant variations in these motors, I have seen significant variations with the cam advance/retard no matter who grinds the cam. If you install a 233-234 intake duration cam at 112-113 intake centerline on a stock 4.6 PI motor, the intake valve hits the piston plain and simple. This is not rocket science. Anyone who wants to dispute my measurements/findings with actual measured data for this cam duration on a stock 4.6 I am waiting. It doesn't matter what springs, rockers, lash adjusters, age of motor, tolerance range from Ford, etc., 233-234 at 112-113 intake centerline hits."

I have a pair of the HiTech cams and I would ABSOLUTELY say for you to use them!!!
I love mine and I have not had any of the local guys running who are running them say a single bad thing about them.
DO NOT be afraid to use these cams!!!

I'm not sure why boduke made this thread because he will install these cams no matter what anyone says about them. If the info in the thread I linked above doesn't make him want to send them back there is no changing his mind.
