power dyne supercharger
#12
I actually had very good luck with a Powerdyne SC!!!
I ran a 11.2@123 mph with a stock cam 5L Mustang GT, Edelbrock heads, GT40 Intake with a 9psi kit! <----And this long before all the tuning days we have today!! ....It's a street SC, just have to remember this!
Great street SC IMHO.....

And they do have a gear driven that is capable of 18psi. The belt drive was for people that wanted a quite S/C and you didn't need to run oil lines with the Belt Drive . As Tim said it is a good Street S/C. Which is just fine for 95% of the people out there

I had a Powerdyne unit on a car I bought. While I did buy the car used, the supercharger only lasted about 2 months. I made about 330rwhp on a 1996 Mustang Gt with a few other mods, mostly mild and was running like 8psi of boost. Don't hold me to those numbers though, that's been awhile back. Anyways, then one night I was driving home and I heard a clunk, and pulled over. The supercharger belt was shredded and pulley itself wouldn't turn.
From an examination the internal belts and bearings basically just decided they didn't feel like working anymore and decided to puke inside the head unit. I could have had it rebuilt, hell probably could have done it myself, but then I just decided to screw it and drove without a supercharger after that.
I've heard that rebuilt Powerdynes actually perform better than many of the top brands, but then that's taking the head unit to a 3rd party company to get Kevlar belts and upgraded pulleys, cleaned, and polished and all that good stuff and when it comes down to it, you're better off just starting out with a quality unit.
They sure are tempting though when they're so cheap, but I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
