Default Is the clutch fork/TOB supposed to be loose without a cable on it? Need help ASAP.

I need this answer quick, going to be installing the engine/tranny combo tonight. Without the cable on it, is the clutch fork supposed to be loose? I can move mine back and forth and up and down. This is a new fork and a new TOB BTW.

I did this before, but I cant remember if it moved or not and I don't want to reinstall it with that messed up.

Yes, I just did this probably 10 days ago. When we put it in it still had play in it. Anyone please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, however, I'm 99.9 percent sure.

Thanks. It seems logical since it just rests on the ball stud and then the sleeve over the input shaft that the TOB slides over. I know that someone changed the transmission before me, so I am just making sure that they didn't loose something. No way do I want to pull this again since I have LT headers.

Agreed!! Even without longtubes it was a complete pain in the ***!!! If I were you, I'd definitely check over the TOB sleeve and use some fine sandpaper to just get rid of any ridges if there are any on the sleeve...best of luck buddy!

Way ahead of you

We will find out if it's right in a few days, once I get the K member back in and what not.

No. With the cable off the fork will be pushed almost all the way to the back of the inspection hole. It should not be able to be moved forward at all and only have very little backwards movement if any. It should never be able to move up or down, if it does then the sleeve is broken.

Ya I don't remember mine being able to move up and down or being as loose as you are describing.

Its gonna move around a bit, like stated before it just rests on the pivot ball.
