Default Wheel questions and concerns

Hey all!
I'm planning on getting a set of dd 10th anniversary wheels for my car next summer/spring and im going to have the rears widened to 17x11 or 17x12 and run a 335/35-17 tire on there. Now my questions and concerns show up because of my mods list...mind you this is on a GT.

03 Cobra IRS with 03 Cobra Brakes
MM Low profile IRS bolts
MM Coilovers
FTBR Bushings
FTBR Deluxe Bumpsteer kit
FTBR Adjustable swaybar endlinks

Question 1: Even with modifications, will this even possibly work?

Question 2: If there is modification required, what would need to be done?

I figure I'll probably need longer wheel studs, run a spacer out back, and roll the fenders(required anyways), but what else do you think would need to be done? Tires I'm going to be running are Kumho XS in the 335/35-17 size out back with the same tires up front in a 275/40-17 on 17x9's. I also thought about widening the fronts to 17x9.5 or 10 and then put 285/40-17's on there too to have a beefy appearance up front too. But these wheels will probably be used for auto-x next summer and for racing at the strip as well. Let me know!

sure it can be done. there's a guy with an 01 cobra that runs an 11" wide rear wheel with 345s. i believe you have everything covered in terms of running a wide rear tire. his name is competition over on SVTP IIRC. i would shoot him a PM.

Those 335s that the guy with that foxbody was running looked absolutely sick!!!!!!!! Got me thinking too.. but no, not until the build is done this winter...then I'm addressing appearance in the spring.

Nope.. teej

You will NOT get a 12" wheel to fit under your ride with out some tub/fender work. My 11"s are maxed out on 315's and the above examples are a poor fit for anything other than a 12" wheel.

Your IRS will add not additional room and will have the same issues I had and needed my boy MC Hammer and the '70's Super Group Sister Sledge to help me to avoid rubbing. If you want to actually have a functioning suspension, stick with an 11" wheel with a back-space of 6~7/8" (may need to add a spacer to achieve this, depending on your starting point). Even with this set-up, you will need to SERIOUSLY address your fender clearance and on 315's.

Jazzer

PS. Your plans for the front are also a BIG issue in terms of clearance, but will leave for another post

Front is just an after-thought. Not really in the plans, but just a thought. I'll stick with the 9" width for the front, but I'm going as fat as I can out back. I'm going to do some research on SVTP and contact that guy that rob told me about. Not that I dont trust you Jazzer, but if someone is doing it already, and there is no safety issues or anything, I want to try it.

Are you wanting to run a 12" wide wheel out back for all that power you are making?

Jazzer said it cost him a couple hundred IIRC

I think tj is just wanting to do something that not a lot of people have done so his car can be "different."

IM COPYING SOMEONE ELSE JERKOFF! Everyone loves a nice wide meat out back, and if you knew what my plans for the car are for next summer, having all that tire would not be a bad thing. Lets just say me and my friend Kenne are gonna be going through an awful lot of corn next summer.

And wannabe, try contributing something positive to a thread every once and a while. All you ever do in my threads is just talk crap and poke fun that I have no power mods and a lot of suspension work, as well as how I like to make my car different than the average mustang. You need to stop this, please. It is not appreciated. Show some respect for other members and what they do to their cars.

I thought my last response in this thread was "contributing." Except for when I'm joking around my posts are helpful and "positive."

Don't get so sensitive or learn to take a joke.
