Default Gears/Tuning and my auto trans...

Hey just a quick question. If I change my rear end gears, do I need to get it retuned since I'm supercharged? Or can I use my handheld to just select the gear ratio I have? I heard somewhere that I might need a retune - which is why I was wondering....

Thanks guys.

Also, what type of mod should I do for my tranny. I have heard about the JMod, shift kits, stalls, etc, but don't know which are best for me. I will rarely drag or race this car - it's mainly a DD.

Appreciate it!

LOL whoever you heard that from is an idiot. No you dont need a new mapping, you just need to change the ratio in the existing tune with your handheld. Jmod all the way. Cheap and easy and it works.

J-mod can run about $300 if you buy a valvebody from a business and install is pretty simple. If you drill the holes yourself it's very cheap. Fluid, seperator plates and drill bits. With an auto and only DD'ing I really wouldn't do anything major like a stall. A stall would definetely make your car faster as would the J-mod but if you don't race it then I really honestly don't see a point. Now if you have $800 burning a hole in your pocket then go ahead and buy a converter lol

But from what I hear you should save that $800 and buy an intercooler lol

+1 to both these posts.

I paid $300 for my fully prepped J-MOD valve body. A true J-MOD does involve drilling into the main valve body though.

Everything you need to know about a J-MOD(superior to a valvebody) is on this link. This article was written by an Ex-Ford Transmission Engineer(he had a hand in engineering the 4R70W) Jerry Wroblewski. This is why its called a "J-MOD," its a personally designed by Jerry to improve all the performance flaws he saw in his transmission. Ford later implemented a lot of these changes, what does that tell you? Hes now a big-wig at SCT I believe. http://www.tccoa.com/articles/tranny...on/index.shtml

WBGH - I already have an IC. It;s just not installed. haha.

And can the JMOD be done by myself? Or is it something that a pro or auto shop should do? I don't wanna mess up the trans...

You can do anything by yourself. Some things just take more knowhow than others. This is something I think you could tackle.

Hossy is very inspirational tonight. Kind of reminds me of what my Grandmother says to me everytime I go see her..."Now Purple, you can do ANYTHING you want in life, if you put your mind to it!" "Ok Momma, but all I want is some damn longtubes!" LOL true story 3x a week. FML.
