Default New Transmission... any recomendations?

ok soo i have a 2003 GT and my transmission went out one day while i was on my way home No big deal because i have been wanting to put a new tranny in the mustang anyways! it is completely stock but i do have those dreams to make this sucker mean!

So! Does anyone have any ideas as to what kind of transmission i should be looking at? im looking for over all performance and somthing that will last in the long run. My sights have been set on the TA500F TKO 500, and T-56, Good or bad? and how will i know if the tranny will mount right up to the engine?

Thanks for any suggestions and support!

Nick

T-56 is what I would go with if I needed a entire new transmission. Possibly beefed up to handle serious power....

IF it were me i would go t56. I know people have had problems with the TKOs. Ask Lizzy he has the 600 and hated it. I know they looked into fixin some of the problems but thats the last i heard about it.

Don't get a TKO. They're not comfortable shifting transmissions for obvious reasons. The T-56 is an awesome transmission that is superior in design. Stock they can handle quite a bit of power, they have an extra gear, and they shift super smooth. Definitely a favorite trans I've had.

I was gonna bring this up though i couldn't remember if he had a 5 or 600, either way out at AM car show i spoke to Lizzy(fred) about his TKO and he said he had a bunch of problems with it. you could always opt for the Promotion refurbished t-45/tr-3650 rated @ 750 hp.

Promotion 3650 or a t56 seem to be the best options for a manual upgrade for our cars. A built 3650 will be easier since you will not need to convert anything like you would have to to run the t56. Lizzy is not the only person I have heard having problems with their TKO

Just swap in an auto!!! that will solve all your problems!!! Just messin with ya tbird!!! Lol I'd suggest going with a t56 just because they hold a lot of power and you get the extra gear for just driving. It's so nice not to have your rpms not drop off the face of the earth when shifting from 4th to 5th.

Such a meenie teej!!!! LOL

I wouldn't recommend everyone just changing their cars to an auto anyways. They have their place. If I wasn't planning for 10s and spending a lot of time at the track, this car would get a t56. BTW, when your 23psi Whipple dreams start coming true, I'll be here to answer any questions about YOUR auto swap!!!
