Sorry, I was thinking of another thread when I wrote this about suspension or nitrous. But yes, I would consider changing your clutch.

This basically sounds like what I want to do...I'm not gonna lie though, I have no idea what to buy, whats best, etc, wheres the best place to get it, so if you wouldn't mind pointing me in the right direction, that'd be helpful bro. I have people putting the stuff in for me, since i truly have no idea how to do it, so I just need to get the stuff ordered, I'm hopefully gonna join in and learn everything as they do it..But anyway, just point out to me whats best/where to get it if you don't mind. Thanks. Also, whats wrong with the stage III Clutch?

basically you have a clutch designed for a drag car, on your street car pushing NO WHERE near the horsepower the clutch is rated to. it's going to be pretty rough on your drivetrain due to hard engagements, and street driving probably sucks even tho you may or may not know it yet if you have nothing to compare it to.

So if you have $5400 then there should be several things you should do.

First, Build your motor: 4K <--- Always aim higher than your budget
Second, build your suspension: $700
Third: Save for a F/I of your choice.

My father-in-law works in a shop, and his saying is: 'you only paint a car once'

While this is true, this isn't exactly what I was going for. About 2 years ago there seemed to be a lot of threads about what clutch to choose, and Ox usually stepped in and made a very good point. The T45's and 3650's that most of us have are rated at around 400ft/lbs of torque, I believe. Most stage 1 clutches will handle that. A stage 3 is rated at way more than your trans is built to handle. Now, why would we put a $500 clutch in front of a $1500 transmission with the transmission being the weaker of the two? You want your clutch to be the weakest point.

+1 to everything above. When I was looking for a clutch I was told the same thing by sxynerd. He said you want something that isn't stronger than the tranny because if something had to go it would be the tranny instead of the clutch.

Ox ran a Spec Stage 1 clutch with his 700rwhp setup.
