Default what do you think its worth?

I have a black '98 mustang gt convertible that came from the factory with feature and option that was available. It has 92K miles. I bought it for 1k$ 2 years ago. It was so cheap because the automatic trans had no reverse and it had faded paint. a lot of things were wrong with it so ill only list the replacement parts that were installed:

New Transmission
New Radiator
New Thermostat
New Rotors/Pads/Calipers
New Convertible Top and Convertible Top Motor
Refurbished Wheels and New Tires
New Inside door panels

$7k in repairs total not including labor.

After all these parts were installed the car runs fine but a new problem arose;it has a pretty major oil leak when the car gets hot. The paint is also still faded. I really want to buy a mustang gt with a 5-speed so i plan on selling this car. My mom thinks that its worth at least $10K and i think its more around $6k because of the paint and oil leak. Roughly how much do you think its worth?

Thanks

Sorry to tell you this but its not worth anywhere near those estimates. Esp with the oil leak. Idk about an estimate, but you won't be happy with what you hear.

I mean no offense, however as you describe I think $3500 would be about the most you can expect--the slushbox hurts a bit, the oil leak hurts a lot, the faded paint is probably the biggest turn-off for potential buyers.

It's a 13-year old car in poor condition...

Umm hate to break it to you but that car is worth probably $3000. If someone offers you anything over 4 i'd take it....

I'd say just to sell it for what you can get for it. Sounds like it has just been a bunch of problems for you... Idk if you've ever owned a Stang before, but I promise they can be pretty reliable

Look where he is at. I am willing to bet that Hawaii has steeper prices than we do.

But yeah, with a major oil leak, faded paint, the auto, I see them in that condition for $2k all the time.

That's what I'm trying to prove to my Mom, it's got repair but things like paint really affect the price. Just because you spent a lot on something didn't mean it's worth that much. And from the estimates I've seen so far I'm better off keeping my stang until she just stops running.

Tell her its not a classic car, The economy sucks and show her the blue book value. I would give no more then 3 grand for it.

3-4 thousand is a realistic price for a car in that condition, but just remember one thing... there is a sucker born everyday and I've seen people sell cars like that for a good chunk of change for some foolish younger drivers.

In Connecticut you'd be able to sell that for 2200 tops.
