what do you think its worth?
I have a black '98 mustang gt convertible that came from the factory with feature and option that was available. It has 92K miles. I bought it for 1k$ 2 years ago. It was so cheap because the automatic trans had no reverse and it had faded paint. a lot of things were wrong with it so ill only list the replacement parts that were installed:
New Transmission
New Radiator
New Thermostat
New Rotors/Pads/Calipers
New Convertible Top and Convertible Top Motor
Refurbished Wheels and New Tires
New Inside door panels
$7k in repairs total not including labor.
After all these parts were installed the car runs fine but a new problem arose;it has a pretty major oil leak when the car gets hot. The paint is also still faded. I really want to buy a mustang gt with a 5-speed so i plan on selling this car. My mom thinks that its worth at least $10K and i think its more around $6k because of the paint and oil leak. Roughly how much do you think its worth?
Thanks

I mean no offense, however as you describe I think $3500 would be about the most you can expect--the slushbox hurts a bit, the oil leak hurts a lot, the faded paint is probably the biggest turn-off for potential buyers.
It's a 13-year old car in poor condition...

That's what I'm trying to prove to my Mom, it's got repair but things like paint really affect the price. Just because you spent a lot on something didn't mean it's worth that much. And from the estimates I've seen so far I'm better off keeping my stang until she just stops running.

3-4 thousand is a realistic price for a car in that condition, but just remember one thing... there is a sucker born everyday and I've seen people sell cars like that for a good chunk of change for some foolish younger drivers.
