I looked, and it sounds like i can pull the transmission out without dropping the motor. I read you need to support the motor, but how much will it move if i just leave it mounted in there? I just want to make sure it can be done without a excessive amount of hassle.
Just drop the exhaust and unbolt your transmission. The motor will be sitting in the motor mounts and the K member will be bolted up so no need to worry about the motor when pulling the trans.
Agreed on both posts above. Disconnect the starter and the harness unbolt the sucker and drop it. If you have anyone that has a motorcycle jack it makes life 500 times easier.

+1 used the jack for the harley haha. Of course after i got it down i didnt have the car high enough so i had to knock it off the jack to drag it out haha.
+1 ive done it like 8 times already with the stupid lts.
God bless you..... My route is to drop the driveshaft, powersteering pump, heatercore and rad hoses, then unbolt the k member and tranny cross member and drop the whole mother out. Then remove the bumper cover and use a hoist attached to the bumper and pull the whole car high enough to slide the drivetrain out.
Taking the tranny out wasn't to to bad...I just did it last month. With a lift and a tranny jack, the worst part was reaching the last bolt on the starter.
