1.8 is good but slicks and lighter front wheels will yield faster times. Do some suspension work and you could see 1.7 60' with the Nittos.

On "bolt-on" power you can easily see 1.7s with 555rs, it just won't happen all the time. Hope for a good track prep cause you're gonna need it. I would get a set of v6 wheels and just run a set of 26" Hoosier QTPs or MT ET Streets for the track. Trying to hook a stick shift car on drag radials even somewhat consistently is a nightmare.

Hey guys first post on this mustang forum, but anyways I've got a 99 manual gt and was wondering what your thoughts were on best launch techniques? I've done about 15 passes, all stock. My best runs were 14.5 with a 2.2 60'. My technique was to just slip the clutch out from about 4k rpms and slip it out so that I had traction and didn't spin. Usually when shifting into 2nd I could finally put it to the floor. 275 nitto nt-555's in the back. My track is also very badly prepped and in minnesota so the elevation is high. Basically just wondering should I be maybe dumping it from 2k rpms instead or is slipping it out the whole way the best way? What's your guys best strategy for street tires...I've got lowering springs and k&n intake going on this weekend too just haven't had the car that long and wanted to hit up the summer drag days.

i slipped the clutch from 2k and just nailed it, but if i powershifted 2nd it would spin..usually got a 1.9 on street tires that way

If you are slipping it at 2k slicks would help you out a lot. Have you tried slipping the clutch at a higher rpm? With my Nitto DRs I was slipping it anywhere from 3-3.5k depending on track prep. You sure your slipping the clutch and not dumping it at 2k?

that was on street tires, i was dumping at 3.8-4k with the 555r's and it would spin a tad and go, anything higher and it would blow the tires off

here is a vid of my launch, not sure if it will come up or not..

Try slipping the clutch instead of dumping it and see what that gets you. Dumping the clutch on DRs is tough to be consistent with.

Interesting..too bad there isn't another cheap drag day So slipping it from 2k works better with street tires? That'd be sweet since I feel like on the street I am quicker than at the track lol I didn't really ever get to nail it when I was slipping it from so high too..makes sense though.
