I hope that guy knows that AM doesnt even make the wheels, they just sell them. They likely get them from the same place everyone else does.

Chrome plating aluminum and its alloys, and doing it right, is very time-consuming and costly--requiring three layers of plating, one each of copper, nickel, and finally chrome (this is the "triple" in the "triple chrome plated" you hear about.

The copper base layer can minimised to obtain a less costly finish, or eliminated to get a down right sleazy finish that will peel if you look at it sideways.

Chrome is a very hard and brittle metal. This is good from wear and corrosion resistance perspectives; but bad when the base structure flexes, as in alloy wheels, and when not properly plated with a good thick copper initial layer.

The bottom line is that inexpensive and chrome plated = PITA on a DD...

Like people have stated, if you take care of them they will last. I would only use them as summer wheels though. Personally I hate chrome and I can't wait to get rid of my chrome wheels!

No,my Ford Mustang isn't a daily driver.
I only drive my Ford Mustang in good weather conditions in the spring,
summer,and some of fall.
Anyway they don't put salt on the roads in my town.
For winter driving and bad weather conditions I drive my Subaru Impreza WRX.
If you do drive in road salt you better wash the road salt off it asap.
When purchasing wheels you get what you pay for 99% of the time.
The chrome knock-off Saleen wheels from American Muscle are poor
quality and within one year mine were pitting, cracking, and pealing away.
That's fine though because I boycott American Muscle now and I
purchase my wheels from else where.I have Cobra wheels on my Ford
Mustang now.
