Lets Play: What came out of my intake manifold!
Is that a valve spring?
Definitely not a valvespring
No I don't think it's a valve spring. I can't think of any possible way that a valve spring can make it's way into the intake. That and valve springs aren't flat like that normally.
What part of the intake did that come out? And was the car running like **** or running at all? What was the reason for pulling the intake? |
Well I was ticking and I wanted to know if it was a bent valve and i took off the intake mani to get the valve cover off and that is what I found in the intake. it was in the actual intake in the bottom of the valley. just sitting in a pool of oil. The oil can be contributed to the supercharger pulling it through most likely but the metal?????????? I have a mechanic for a neighbor and he was like WTF?! I have no idea bro! lol
Well it's time to begin further teardown and look for something busted. That's really all you can do.
Yea tomorrow I'm pulling off the heads so I can see...I must admit that I'm excited to find out lol.
my first thought was they look like piston rings a bit, but obviously they wouldn't be in your intake manifold... so i dont know. like mentioned already, you may just need to open up more and see what you find (maybe a quick compression test before hand?)
Good luck |
piston ring was my first thought too. the bend on the long piece looks about right to go around a piston, definately not tight curved enough to be a valve spring. the way the little stuff is bent though i have no idea, probably got chewed up circulating through the oil though. but why something like that would be in the intake i have no effing clue.
Well I already have my valve covers off and my procharger and intercooler and radiator off so I'll just take the heads off and see. I also thought it was piston rings but that would be fantastical!
