Average cost for personally building and have a shop build a 2004 gt 4.6 motor. And being built for boost. Wanting to put around 500 to the wheels and wondering about how much it will cost me

Hey guys new to the forums. I have a general question, there is always speculation with this. I want to get an exhaust, is there really any gain in power from these mods without forced induction? Also what you reccomend for the best performance?

This thread is kida dedicated more toward general bulsh!tting and less toward tech discussion. You'll get more attention and response by creating a new thread addressing your questions.

That said, hp gains from exhaust are minimal. Zero from a cat-back system or weld-on mufflers, about 8rwhp from an aftermarket midpipe, and about 10rwhp from longtube headers. Shorty style headers aren't worth the time and effort unless you already have the engine out of the car - lot of work to install either type of header, and shorty's yield close to zero hp increase (best case scenario is about 5 hp).

Not to steer you away from those mods, the sound alone from doing your exhaust is worth it in most cases. Just don't expect big performance increases.
