Default what type of rods and pistons do you guys recommend?

do you guys recommend h rods or i beams? And what cc pistons would be good for running decent amount of boost through a supercharger? (like 12+ pounds)

I have the factory h beam pistons in my cobra and have had no problems. There is a debate on compression for fi I am running 8.8-9.0 comp but if I were to build a new motor I would bump it up to 9.8-10.0. The higher the compression the more power the
motor makes na which will take less boost to make the power you want

If you are staying in the 500-550hp range I would think I beams would be sufficient. Stock crank, 4340 Ultralites and Diamond pistons would be a nice little setup.

This of course is just what I was told would be a good setup for a build I was thinking about, which was in the 500-550 range.

I would go with modmax H beam rods and manley pistons. I used them with no problems.

Go with 18cc dished pistons. You want your CR to be right around 9.0. It is a big misconception that if you run higher CR with lower boost you will make more power. 1 lbs of boost makes 10% more power then 1 point of compression. You can't run as much boost on higher compression as you can on lower compression so in reality you will make more power with higher boost and lower compression.

For example in my race engine I am running 7.5:1 compression with 40lbs of boost for max power. You can't run that low of compression on a street car cause your off boost performance will suck bad. Which is why you should run around 9.0. If your shooting for closer to 1000hp then run around 8.5

ok thank you everyone for you advice. If i get the pistons notched will that mess up the CR tho? Or will i not need to get 18cc pistons notched? I plan on running MHS 2.5 blower cams

When the valves hit the piston they hit in the quench area which is the flat part of the piston. No matter what -cc piston you get the quench is always there. I'm not sure if you need notches with mhs cams but since CMS 2.5 blower cams are a more aggressive cam and you don't need to notch the pistons for them I doubt you need to for MHS.
