Default Hawk Performance Ceramic Pad review

Hey all!
Took some time with a friend and worked on my car for a bit yesterday. Did an oil change and did the brake pads...AND FROZE MY BAWLS OFF! No pics of mid-install so sorry for that. Just thought I would share my opinion on these pads thus far.

First off, had to bed them in with 6-10 moderate stops from 30-35mph, then 2-4 hard stops from 40-45mph to properly bed them to the rotors and have them be ready for use. This turned out to be rather difficult for the later of the two just because it was 20* outside and the ABS kicked on pretty hardcore on the heavy stops, but they are properly bedded and working fine.

First impression is that these pads are incredibly smooth. Its really quite weird to describe honestly. Its like how can brake pads make breaking smooth? but i swear thats what it feels like.

These things also grip pretty hard, better than I expected that they would being a ceramic. I hardly have to apply any pressure to the brakes and you can feel the grip. A hard stop on warm pavement is going to prove to be an experience where someone's face meets the windshield!

Overall, these thus far prove to be a great brake pad. Being a ceramic, these pads should be extremely low dust but I have not had them on long enough to report on this yet. Will report back as soon as I drive on them for a while and they get enough use for normal brake pads to start accumulating dust.

Hope this helps anyone who is thinking about doing brake pads in the future!

Glad to see some feedback on these pads. I'm about to replace mine and had wondered if anyone was using these. I'm leaning toward the HAWK HPS or the GranSport6's, but undecided at the moment. Also pondering adding slotted rotors for out gassing.

No noise at all! They are 100% completely quiet! Trueblue, I would be comfortable recommending the HPS pads or the PC pads for the street. HPS pads have more stopping power but they also shed more dust, which for me is priority over the slight increase in stopping power over the ceramics.

Thanks for the input on the HPS pads! Those are the ones I am most likely to go with. I wash my wheels about 3 times per week during the warm months anyway, so I don't care much about dust. I am slightly concerned about noise though.

Keep us posted on what you think about your new pads as you get a few more miles on them.

Does the car stop faster than it can accelerate?

If so, we have work to do this winter bro lol
