Default Modded intake valve and head removal

Thinking about picking up some cams here shortly. I dont want just a stage 2, because i plan on doing heads etc later on and a built motor etc etc. so how much more of a pain is it to remove the heads and replace the valves? i think i also heard something about grinding them down? would have to replace other stuff like head gaskets/intake gaskets as well? id like to be able to calculate pretty close to what the total would be before i buy.

From what I understand, throwing in a set of aftermarket valves doesn't give too much more room. Might get you a stage 2.5 (or stage 2P for the MHS guys) vs a stage 2 with stock valves........I don't know that I would bother pulling the heads and replacing (or having the stock valves ground) if that is all you are after. Especially since a run of the mill stage 2 is gonna get you about as much RPM as your stock bottom end is going to be able to handle.

BTW, have you looked into the HiTech stage 2? I heard they are quite the set of cams LOL

Machining the intake valves are going to allow you to "safely" run the Stage 2 cams, along with Nick's 2P cams.

CMS Stage 2 cams and MHS Stage 2P cams are much better cams than Hitech. But most people run those cams with the stock valves and pistons.

Now if you notch your pistons you open up many more cam options.

Also can anyone explain the CMS/MHS cam/Head combo packages to me? do the stage 1,2,3 heads all have the same porting?

I was bustin your ***** man. I was in the thread you posted about how long it was taking for your return to process. LOL

In a nutshell, MHS stage 1 heads are full portwork but retain stock valves and springs. Stage 2 MHS heads have full portwork, upgraded stainless valves and upgraded springs. And nick's site just says that the specs for stage 3 are TBD but it makes mention of titanium retainers and timeserts and the availability of a "stage 3 spring." Don't know if there is any need for a stage 3 head especially at $1700.............TFS heads aren't much more.......cough cough.........
