Default Upgrading rear brakes worth it?

Ok I read about 30 brake threads and got all my answers except this. I have a 2000 GT for starters and I see some people saying the stock rear brakes on a GT are just as good as the cobra brakes and are not worth upgrading. So what would everyones opinion be on upgrading the rear brakes.

Lets assume I will be getting the cobra fronts and put stainless lines all around. Knowing this, is a rear brake upgrade worth it or should I stay stock?

My main concern is having the rear end come around because the front brakes are a lot stronger than the rears.

I would have to say upgrading from GT rear brakes to cobra rear brakes is NOT worth it, 1. Its not that big of an upgrade if any. 2. The read brakes account for 30% of your stopping power. I have cobra fronts on mine with stainless lines with stock GT rears along with alot of others with the same setup I'm sure.

I'd say it's worth the $175 to upgrade them. You can buy the upgrade kit from buyfordracing.com that has the new rotors, brackets, moan braces, etc everything except for calipers because you reuse the stock calipers.

I'd do it 150% man. I went cobra brakes on all four corners and it's well worth it.

I never did do any brake upgrades on my car. I never added weight to the car so I felt no need to waste the money.

Until you do it, you wont understand...

Totally worth the upgrade...Braking is more balanced than before and much more predictable going into corners.

I have stock pads on all 4 corners, my car would be scary quick to a stop with any decent type of aftermarket pads.

But it's not like you have the capability to go 200mph given the right gearing ox...of course you don't need any better brakes than stock.

/the most rediculous logic EVER!!!

I buried the speedo needle both when the car was stock and when it had 700rwhp. It stopped the same both times. Unless your road racing where you are building alot of heat I see no need to upgrade brakes other then for looks.

LOL I always thought you where a really knowledgeable guy... but the past like 3 days you really have changed my opinion of you. Take a turn once n a while and you'll see why better brakes are good for the car...

Later braking/faster braking= a hell of a lot faster time at a road course/autocross event... let alone a more balanced car into a turn.
