My 02 GT died at the drive-thru
After being pushed out of the way, the battery was replaced. It started but then died. The tow truck driver said he'd noticed Arco gas was a common denominator in his latest tows with same type of problem. (I am guilty of getting gas there since it is the closest to my house.) He recommended going to Shell or 76 and adding an additive to the tank as well. I replaced the fuel filter, added good gas and it starts but dies after a while. Do I need to replace the fuel pump too? Any ideas? I

OMG man... wtf is wrong with you? Arco? Do you hate your car? Do you use ArmorAll too? Stop using cheap crap on your car and it will stop doing cheap car crap back to you. Try using better gas and see how that turns out for a while. I suggest Shell, Chevron. NO CHEAP CRAP!

Welcome.
Sorry to hear it that sucks.
The first things I would test and probably replace would be the battery and alternator.
My mustang died before when my battery and alternator was bad and needed to
be replaced.
Arco gasoline is one of the worst fuels you could use in your mustang and what I
don't like about it is it has a red tint to it.Also I personally would never give BP my
business after the oil spill and how they acted like they could careless.
Chevron and Texaco is high quality "top teir" gasoline and I highly recommend using
their gasoline as I have had good luck using their fuel.
The only gasoline additive I ever used that worked in my mustang was the
Chevron fuel injector cleaner and Chevron fuel system cleaner both worked great.
Armor All always faded my tires over time so I don't use their products anymore.

I don't think poor quality gas can destroy a fuel pump unless it has a large amount of debris in it, if u changed the filter and syphoned the tank and filled up with a good tank I would think there's another culprit. Is the CEL on?
