Got my new boot!
So I made a post last week about my new knob and I mentioned that I had also purchased a new shift boot.
http://i871.photobucket.com/albums/a...a/388cf3c3.jpg I purchased the boot from www.redlinegoods.com and here's my review. It cost me about $55. I ordered the perforated black leather with white stitching. There's an option to have the stitching in a straight line fore to aft. (the original boot has 4 panels and this effectively gives you two) I ordered the 'original' replacement which was 4 panels. Unfortunately what they sent me was the two panel boot. It's not what I ordered but...it looks good so I'm not going to complain. INSTALL: You must remove the rubber collar that is glued in your original boot and glue it into the top of the boot with the leather slightly rolled. Or you can turn the leather inside out and slip the collar in and glue it. When it dries it will roll and look good. http://i871.photobucket.com/albums/a...a/1c7a6d83.jpg The bottom of the boot is slightly longer than the factory boot. You must trim the leather accordingly. There is a silver ring glued to the original boot. You must remove the ring and glue it to the new boot. http://i871.photobucket.com/albums/a...a/e5469a74.jpg The RING is attatched to the housing in an....odd....manner. It looks like there were tabs that slip through holes in the ring and then are melted to secure the ring to the housing. Stupid... So now you must glue the ring back to the housing. Reinstall housing! http://i871.photobucket.com/albums/a...a/36cd107a.jpg http://i871.photobucket.com/albums/a...a/255db3b5.jpg http://i871.photobucket.com/albums/a...a/f550e390.jpg http://i871.photobucket.com/albums/a...a/fb9c8b59.jpg http://i871.photobucket.com/albums/a...a/359e9397.jpg |
