Some of you Mobil guys might wanna read a little more into the resluts of Mobil 1 after they changed there base stock formula a few years ago, it seems every oil enthuasists is highly against using it because of advance wear (and its not only the amsoil/redline people saying that). It seems the best group III oils over the conter are penzoil platinum and penzoil ultra. I personally use valvoline synpower because I have bad oil OCD and change mine about every 3 to 4 months even though the car only gets about 5-10l miles a year put on it. Check out the Bobistheoilguy forums.

The oils have improved so much over the past 25 years, that I would say almost any oil is "acceptable" if you change it every 4000 miles and use a good filter.

No doubt if you run tests under highly controlled lab conditions and take EXTREMELY accurate measurments, you could probably find an oil that is better or worse than others. Marketing has become the true differentiator between brands. Design some tiny difference into your oil and tout it like crazy.

Run your favorite brand, use a good filter, change it at reasonable intervals and don't spend outrageous amounts of money on oil due to marketing pitches. Money is better spent on a good filter than on a more expensive brand of oil.

Motorcraft 5-20 and a motorcraft filter here. Can't beat the price, I change my oil at work on my lift for pretty much nothing. Ah the perks of being a ford tech

Great! I was going to post something similar but you did it for me! Just about any oil will do JUST fine. If you're daily driving or weekend cruising and changing your oil every 3-4k miles or 3 months. It's the people who run their car on the track on a regular basis that really need a high quality engine oil.

Me? I just like to waste my money on the pretty purple stuff.
