04' Cobra or Boss 302?
#23
Thanks guys for the great responses. So far the Boss is winning out, but there are some good arguments for the Cobra. Trust me I have done some hard looking for a Cobra and there are a few out there with very low miles and unmolested. Sure I might pay a bit more, but I am ok with that knowing that I am getting what I paid for. Plus they seem to be holding their value. The new Boss looks sick, but being a new car and having to deal with dealer mark up and maybe some new build issues does have it's draw backs. If I hold out maybe I could dig up a clean used one. I am old school and grew up during the original Pony-car wars, had I known better when I was ready to drive I would have found me a Boss or some other muscle car and kept it, but that is life. This would be a toy just like my SS so it would stay garaged and well taken care of. Decisions, decisions....

People arent thinking this through. You will have to completely void your warranty to get the power levels that have been mentioned in this thread. You have to use ford's ProCal tuning software to tune it and still keep the warranty. That means no custom tune. Fastlane Motorsports only saw 400RWHP on a Special Edition 5.0 with a Whipple on it @ 5 PSI. Yes it was only 5 PSI and 14 degrees of timing and it did have 465RWTQ but still its not the monster numbers people speak about. With 10 PSI, more timing and a custom tune it would probly see 530RWHP or so but as far as I understand that means no more warranty. No 5.0 will be seeing 500HP N/A, plug back in and get real. The 5.0 still has a lot to prove when it comes to modded power. And lets not start talking about the cash sink the boss will be. Market support is also already well established for the Cobra, not so much for a brand spanking new vehicle.
