So I bought 00 GT...
For $2500 from a friend. Its a black on grey leather,113k miles, auto. Its in ok condition. Runs good and doesnt sound too bad.
The good-
-Runs good
-transmission shifts fine
-everything works
the bad-
-Needs a shifter cable, kinda tough when shifting into gear or into park.
-Body is in so so condition, has some clear coat peeling on roof, scratches here and there etc etc.
-needs a stereo
-Might need a headliner
Il have pics up sometime Sunday. Its stock besides for flowmaster mufflers. Its good on maintence but needs a shifter cable. Where should I start on this car? Its my DD so im just wanting something fun to drive. I was just thinking a offroad midpipe,373 gears a programmer, wheels and lower it. Sound like a good way to start?

Congrats on your new mustang and enjoy it!
The best clutch cable I would recommend to use is the Ford OEM shifter
cable because it is the most durable and the strongest to use. What I
would do is start by doing all the general maintenance on your mustang
like changing your transmission fluid, differential fluid, oil change, spark plugs,
Motorcraft fuel filter, drop in K&N air filter,PCV valve etc.
Lot of people love to mod their mustangs but, forget to do all the general
maintenance that is needed.
FRPP 3.73's are the best gears for a mix of street and strip I think.Definitley get the
FRPP gears they are the best way to go on our cars.
You could get a Ford OEM shifter cable from your local Ford dealership parts
department or Latemodel Restoration Supply.
For a new stereo you could check out Crutchfield they have alot of nice
stereo's to choice from.
I think that a programmer should be your last mod after you did all the
mods you want to do then get a programmer.I would start by installing
a set of FRPP 3.73's and a new bearing kit.

Yeah would definitley have your shifter cable replaced asap because
your mustang will end up on a flat bed tow truck if you shifter cable
snaps on you.I forgot to say that you can correct your speedometer
so, your speedometer will read the correct mph by getting a programmer.
Their are alot of reputable tuners to get a programmer from.I would check
out the newer SCT Xcal3 programmer for sure.

Congrats on the Mustang.
Go 4:10 gears with that 5 speed, skip the 3:73 as Bladerunner is recommending.Bladerunner thinks 4:10s are going to save you gas over 3:73 and be more highway friendly.
Go 4:10 or higher you will be much happier

Yes,your check engine light will come on if you install a off road mid pipe
because your computer will notice almost immeditely that you do not
have catalytic converters and throw a check engine light but,it will
not effect your mustang though.A off road mid pipe or catted mid pipe
is a good mod to consider. After you install your off road mid pipe you can take
away your check engine light by purchasing and installing "MIL eliminators".
You can get MIL eliminators from www.50resto.com .

Is it your bussiness to know why the rear is dented ?
BTW.. That Mustang doesnt need the whole car painted if you know how to do bodywork. Ever hear of blending?Mr Subaru tech.
@ the poster , dont listen to this Bladerunner.
What I would do so the rust on roof doesnt get worst, sand it down to shiney metal and hit it with some putty\ech primer till you can get it fixed. That will stop it from rotting out.
@ poster BTW nice find and price and good luck with that gem
