4.6L General Discussion This section is for non-tech specific information pertaining to 4.6L (Modular) Mustangs built from 1996 to 2004.

So I have a new project... Should ruffle some feathers.

I'm going to be keeping my x pipe and Bassani catback. Dynatech and Kooks both make headers for this swap. So I'll be using Dynatech LT's and then trim my x pipe to Fit. The headers are slip fit at then end so I'll just slide my x pipe on, a few clamps and done.

Funny thing is the LSX is so much narrower than the 4.6 that it fits better with LT's in a Mustang body than the 4.6 does, and even than the LSX does in a F body/Vette. It's almost like Ford and GM meant for this to happen.

And there really is no good reason for me to do this swap. It's not power, cause I could have made power with an SC 2/4v. It's not money, cause this isn't a cheap swap. It's not expensive, but it's not cheap. It's not out of ease, cause this isn't as easy as using Ford stuff.

It's mostly a "Because I can" swap. I like the LSX better than the 4.6/5.4 so why the hell not. My Mustang is a toy anyway, so why not have fun with it.

Built Ford tough... with Chevy stuff! lol.

Thumbs up to you sir...thumbs up.

why were you not happy with the 4v heads & cams? Did you use that on top of the GT rotating assembly? (in that case, no wonder you are not happy ).

we just put a v8 into our buddys v6 last week. Pain in the ***, and that was swapping in a motor that was compatable with the car already. I know you are going to hit many headaches along the way, and your car will honestly not be very reliable, but hey, who cares? haha.

Says who? Just because some people may do hack job swaps that make them unreliable, doesn't mean his swap will be.

This is gonna be a good thread of people bashing him for motor choice LOL I'll defend it OP. Going to be funny to see how people bash this swap if you end up pulling the HP you are expecting LOL They will be bad you can make that HP N/A and they are doing it with f/i...

Why didnt you like the modular setup once it was done? Cool setup though, I can definitely why you're doing it. Its interesting to see how conveniant the swap really is. However id like to remind you that it didnt take 14 years to "catch up." In 2003 the Generation 4 F-body(1993 - 2002 Camaro, Firebird, TransAm) got laid to rest, or.....terminated you could say. It took you 8-9 years to recover from the shellshock and just to be beat back down into your hole like gophers on an arcade game. Just a lil reminder teehee, lets call it what it is. With all of that being said, this will be a BA setup and one that will boggle minds and drop jaws, I certainly like that aspect of it too

I'm a little shocked that there are still people who havent realized that the absolute only similarity between LSX and 4.6Ls are that they have 8 cylinders, that's it, it ends there. So why are you comparing stock for stock again? I'm not sure why people compare a 2V N/A 4.6L with 9.4 CR to gigantic LSX motors. That in itself is uncut stupidity. GM could never ever have the same performance N/A if they had to work with a 4.6L block, for obvious and understandable reasons. However a 5.0 Mustang is currently beating everything GM had to offer out of a 6.2L. Hmmm.

Ummm, they continued to put LS base motors in vehicles other than the F-body.. It was never "terminated"

I shall go back and edit my post in accordance to your observation. I will note that it is clear that we are talking about performance and speed based LSX. I think its clear......and the word "terminated" was used as a pun, I thought that was clear.
