T45 5th to 4th question
I was beating my car a little bit last night. When downshifting from 5th to 4th, I noticed that if I tapped the gas a little to raise the RPMs (to try and rev match), the transmission grinded while going into 4th gear, but if I were to downshift without touching the gas pedal prior to putting it into 4th, it made no grinding noise at all.
I don't remember this happening when I first got the car (several years/miles ago). Is this a sign of regular wear on the T45?
I think the transmission oil is due for replacement (I think it's been over 15k-20k miles since the last). Could that also be it?

Eh, not so much fluid. Sounds to me more like worn out synchro/blocker rings.
I broke my old t45 3-4 shift fork... replaced it and put all new blocker rings in.. shifted a little better. My trans in my cobra now has 52k miles and will scrape 1-2 if shifted really fast, and sometimes just jumps outta gear. My guess would be synchro and or blocker ring wearing out

LOL
Lifting is for pussies. Yea my 1-2 doesnt take long and my trans reminds me every time. 2-3 is fine tho.. And this is all on a stock base with cut handle and some rubber taken out
Went 13.65@104 box stock with 2" drop lol

Are those times with DR's?
I have had the same thing happen, Evan. Maybe the RPM's are a bit too high.
I have missed third several times while bashing. Never ground second, and it has been shifted very firmly at times.
Normal day to day driving I really methodically shift the car. I often times double clutch. It times my shifts near perfect with the slow rev down due to bad IACV. Always make sure my clutch is FULLY depressed before leaving a gear, and FULLY depressed before entering a gear. As not fully depressing the clutch will ruin synchro's. I'm real scared about that.

Yeah, sometimes my transmission 'scrapes' when I try to nail that 1-2 shift quickly as well. It does have ~83k miles on it.
Today when I drove it, it didn't always 'grind' when downshifting from 5th to 4th while rev-matching. It seemed consistent last night, though. Regardless of the frequency, its probably just a sign of **** being worn.
Thanks, whitefox.

Dont expect anything other than failure your first time out bro. I've made 100s of passes down the strip and every other time is a learning experience. I know what I gotta do, its actually doing it that counts. That slip was from my first pass down the 1320 with this car... first pass is usually always my best pass
