Default No to the CENTRI!!

This is all ripped straight from MODDEDMUSTANGS.com

I'm entertaining the idea of having an eaton atop my teksid. I know that a CENTRI kit would be easier, but I'm really not interested in a CENTRI. Like..at ALL.

What I know is that (to my knowledge) there is no roots style blower kit for a 96-98 cobra. Well here it is. Let's discuss.

_____________________

Easiest way to do it is pull your engine out and get terminator long block and drop it in.Even if you get 03-04 cobra supercharger that's probably 1/10 of your total swap cost. You also need 99+ cobra heads.Your bottom end and tranny are weak and those are the first things which will go after the swap.

Here is the part's list that would be needed when doing the supercharged 03 cobra swap on 99-01 cobras and 03-04 Mach 1 .

(6312) Crank pulley /Harmonic Balancer
(6312B) Supercharger Crank drive pulley

Or you could spray it. You'll be faster, it will be cheaper and a helluva lot less hassle.

Uh... the second option seems to be a little more involved lol. Unless time and money are not a problem, i'd go with the centri of those two choices. Or like purp said just spray it for really cheap.

Why are you not liking the centri?

Seems like you could figure out a cheaper way if you created something new based on that blower instead of more or less swapping the 03/04 set up.

Spray isn't always the answer. If you ever put the car on a track that isn't a straight line, the nitrous is useless. It's also not legal to use on the street, where as a SC is there and you can tap into the power level you want at any point.

Id throw a centri at it for that. Seems like A LOT less hassle.

And yea we all know that nitrous isn't the answer for everything...it's just a cheap option to get some power for awhile (at least for me).

Thats why you build a nasty motor N/A so you can have fun on and off the juice

You can find complete Cobra motors for around $3-4k and you could piece one together for a lot cheaper. You also could find a complete top end from either a Cobra or Mach 1 for much cheaper and use your current block and the compression would drop a little, probably right around where you would want it with a blower.

That lists makes things look extremely complicated and overwhelming, but if you can find a complete motor or top end that pretty much eliminates everything on that list minus the blower stuff.

Way to go wannabe!

Like I said, I don't wand a CENTRI. That stupid whistle is SO annoying to me. I want to do something irregular. I will not be replacing my rods or pistons as I only plan on being in the thereabouts of 400 wheel. My car as it sits has more than enough power to get me into some serious trouble.

I've been looking at a steigemeier stage 5 ported eaton a guy has for sale locally. A decent price as well.

As far as it being a pita to do...so fuggin what? Anything good in live you have to work hard at. This applies.

@lilroush Is your eaton your doing, or it came that way?

@purp No.

I am in the process of buying a complete 01 Cobra top end for $750. So you can find good deals out there so you can run a roots blower for a lot cheaper than people think.
