Default How long does it take for springs to settle?

Ok hopefully this is my last suspention thread for a while (other then the before and after pic thread of course), but I obviously want to get my car aligned after I put my new springs on. However I don't want to put them on, align it, have them settle and then have to do it again a month later.

I'm going to go and do some tight figure 8's right after I put them on to get them to settle a bit, but whats the general rule of thumb on how long they take to do most of their settling?

Would it benifit me to do them and let the car just sit on the springs for a week without driving it? I have some 15" wheels for my 69 with tires I don't care about as much that I could run for a week or 2, but I don't know that a 15" wheel would clear the front brakes on my 2000. They're just the stock GT brakes; does anyone know if a 15" wheel will clear?

So basically a few straight forward questions:

1) How long do new springs generally take to settle?
2) Would it benifit me to let the car sit for a week without driving it to let them settle?
3) Will a 15" wheel clear stock 2000 GT front brakes?

TIA advance guys, I'll try to chill out on the threads after this one, I couldn't really find any info on this.

1. A week or so

2. No

3. Depends on back spacing. Might need a a small spacer and possibly grinding of caliper

You'll be fine with 15" wheels with the stock brakes. They cleared with a 5.5" BS (I think, that or a 4.5", I can't remember exactly).

I'd give it a couple days(2-4). Mine settled rather quickly. I think you'll notice that the rear springs will settle a little more than the fronts though. Just FYI.

2 days and you should be good. 15s won't fit on the front without a 3\8 spacer. And depending on lug nuts you may or may not need to get 3 inch studs. My prostars didn't need studs.

Yeah that's what I've read, so I'm going to leave my factory ISO's in the rear and pull the fronts.

Ok thanks for the info guys, I'll drive it for about a week and let it settle and maybe hit the brakes and gas a little harder than normal to squish them down. I won't wear the tires too bad in a week with a bad alignment, so I'll just use my regular tires. 15's seem to be a waste of time to try to swap on.

You don't NEED to get an alignment right away. You definitely wont ruin your tires... But if you drive 1000 miles a week, obviously the sooner the better -- Get the alignment done!
