Where'd you buy them?

I'd post this in jazzers section, but it's not quite the kick it spot.

Where'd you buy your nittos and how much did you pay?

Ryan86272 03-23-2011 08:57 AM

If u go nitto's get the NT'05's...

Not sure where u can get them cheap online . If u lived in florida locally id say from me.

PurpleIcedGT 03-23-2011 09:03 AM

Try tierack, discount tire direct and ebay too.

teej281 03-23-2011 09:08 AM

Discount tire is as cheap as I've found them online. My local tire shop actually was the best to be honest.

Eduardo 03-23-2011 11:54 AM

I got my 275's for 120 each from a local shop.

Which tires?

99GTvert 03-23-2011 12:27 PM

I have bought pairs at AM and at Discount Tire Direct.

Moonshine 03-23-2011 12:33 PM

I want the 555's. What's good about nt05?

KillJoy 03-23-2011 12:41 PM

I got my nitto 555's at discount tire direct. Free shipping and handling, and they were like ~195 a tire.

I think most places will match or do better now or days.
Local places know you can get a better deal online :)

schmallz 03-23-2011 01:49 PM

Go to your local tire store, and talk them down, there is something like a 100% mark up from local tire dealers, they will always shave a few bucks. ;)

Moonshine 03-23-2011 02:27 PM

What size, KJ?

Drag radial that's decent

hpwrestler220 03-23-2011 03:17 PM

I got my 555's from AM...

W/e 245/45/17 (2) and 315/35/17 (2) cost on their website minus the discount code is what i paid for em

Moonshine 03-23-2011 03:18 PM

I don't think the NT05's are drag radials until you put an 'R' behind the '5'.

At any rate, I don't want drag radials as I do not drag race. The 555's seem to be what I'm looking for out of a street tire. Longevity/performance. Although the 05's look pretty good. I'm looking to get 20k+ out of a set of tires.

I'll have to drop in to my local discount tire to see what they can do for me.

I will report.

Yea lizzy said it. I was thinking dragradial. Nt05r's are very good drag radials comparable to mickey Thompsons et streets. I have both tires and mt takes the cake but nitto isn't far behind. But your looking for street tires.... 555's it is...

And to the person that said the 100% markup. I know most shops in tampa area make nothing on a set of tires.. mount balance & alignment. Is where they make their cash 100% percent labor

You had nt05s all the way around? How did they compare to the 555s wet/dry/longevity?

wet traction is decent, dry is incredible, and i have about 10k miles on mine. i have nt05s right now

99 GT vert 03-23-2011 09:23 PM

discount tire will hook you up if they dont let me know i may be able to do a little working the system for you since i work there.

ctgreddy 03-23-2011 09:29 PM

i heard the nt05r's have HORRIBLE tire wear. I just recently bought a set of 275/40/17 555r's from discount tire direct for 318 shipped. I know that's not what you're looking for but the seller is great and the tires showed up 2 days after i bought them.

but for what you're looking at consider the bfg kdw2's as well. I heard they are better than the normal 555's in dry/wet handling and in mileage. Not sure if they cost any more than the 555's tho.

Thanks Evan! I'll be in touch.

I'm not too sure about the NT05's. From what I have read, the performance is only slightly better than the 555's, but the life from the 555's is much more.

@ctgreddy I have thought about the KDW2's. I couldnt find my rear size with them, so, unfortunately no on the BFG's. I've definitely decided Nitto's.

@turbo How aggressively do you drive? How much tread is left on them?

they aren't a drag radial. they are more of an autoX tire than anything.

Thought he was asking about the nt05r's

I ran the NT05's on my car last year in 295 35 18 and they were awesome. Dry and wet traction were great and they were quiet as hell in the process! And this was all with 4.10's. If I were to have not done burnouts and stuff, they probably would have lasted me between 10-12k miles. My NT555's lasted almost 20k miles, but had far less grip. KDW2's suck in my book. Noisy, and they dont hook that well. I'd pick the 555's all day over KDW2's.

H0SS302 03-24-2011 11:43 AM

discount tire price matches everything... so i got them there.
