Oil consumption

Okay, I read that right out of my Haynes. I'm assuming anything lower than 100 you have serious problems. Thus...NO LESS than 100. Anywhere above is probably fine.
Had you noticed any smoke? No residual oil around the bottom of the engine?

no smoke at all. no milkshake in the coolant tank. no leaks at all. before i signed the paper work i looked the car up and down. tomorrow ima do the comp test and i was thinking to pull the intake tube off the throttle body open my butterfly and look for oil residue. earlier some one said that my pcv could be clogged and stuck open. i never thought of that. it makes sense but prolly not the cause. i was also reading that i clogged/stuck open pcv will cause i rough idle. my stang does kind have a rough idle. it not that rough my its like blurps. kinda like a small misfire feel. i just figured that that could be dirty plugs but ill check it out.

I would check your used car laws for your area. I assume this came with some sort of warranty? Being dicks or not they have to abide by the law. They have time on their side. Being once that warranty time runs out, or you pass the allotted amount of miles, you are responsible after that. Do not let it go to long. You might want to think about taking it to a ford garage and having it checked out. Assuming this was not bought at a ford dealership. The dealer you bought it from can't argue, when you have something in writing from another dealer especially ford, stating what's wrong. Do not let this dealer know you are doing these tests yourself. If they are complete ***holes they probably will say you were messing around with the engine and caused the damage yourself. Do not give them any ammunition against you.
The few dollars you spend out now having it checked out, may save you a ton in the long run.

^ If he bought the car "As Is" he may very well be assed out. Although there are some exceptions within reason I suppose (like if you only get a block away from the dealer and it catches fire or something) where the dealer legally has to make things right, but for the most part an as-is sale in pretty ironclad and unless they want to be nice they don't have to do shat. This is why having pre-purchase inspections performed on used cars is a good idea.

Out of curiosity I googled used car laws in california. Even if he bought it as is, it is still possible to bring a charge against a dealer.
This is why I said he should look up used car laws for his area. Maybe something can be done or maybe not. But if he waits to long they can just say, we'll he beat on the car and did it himself.

So i spoke with a friend of mine. he has an 03 gt and was having the same problem. He spoke with a ford dealer and they told him to only run fully syn. So he is running fully syn now and doesnt burn a drop. That dosent make any sense to me. syn is much finer that conv oil. you would think with syn that you would blow more by the rings. do any of you agree?
