Upgrading Mach 460... questions
I'm looking to upgrade my Mach 460, I think all I really need is some more bass to be happy. So I was thinking of getting the Mach 1000 sub enclosures and running 2 of the Mach 1000 subs, or getting some after market ones to put in them.
Does anyone know what the cubic feet of each of the Mach 1000 sub enclosures are? The previous owner of my car already wired RCAs and an 8 gauge power wire to the trunk off the factory headunit. So I figured I'd get an aftermarket amp like they had and run the 2 subs mounted out of the way in the corners of the trunk. What do you guys think?

Well...if you're looking for high quality sound you better get rid of the Mach crap.
I've got a kenwood KDC-X994 powering Focal tweets and mids in the front and Rockfords in the read. A Clarion low wattage marine amp powering a punch 12". It sounds nothing short of amazing.
So get an amp and power a nice sub.

So I wanted to try to save some cash and just get a sub or pair of subs for my Mach system since it's already wired up. I can't really go over 400 watts RMS on the amp though because my power wire is only 8 gauge. So I figured the Mach 1000 subs would be perfect, or a pair of aftermarket subs that run nice in their enclosures.

How much would you guys spend on a Mach 1000 setup? I mean I have the 460 so all I really need are the sub amps and the subs right? Oh and the headunit if I want to go all out. Are the interior speakers any different than the mach 460?

I know you mentioned losing trunk space, but why not just get a 8" sub and an amp and wire it into the 460 stuff you already have? Here is a how-to:

10" sub custom installed by me.

Wires got cleaned up.
One amp was for the sub and one was to power 4 interior speakers. I would rarely turn the sub all the way up. One 10" sub will be just fine. Don't bother with the two Mach 1000 subs.
