4.30 or 4.10???
I have a 2001 GT (Automatic). My car is still basically stock so my first true performance upgrade will be to do the gears and tune. My goal is to be able to pull up next to one of these new challengers or new 300 hp V6 mustangs and blaze off the line a little better.
So my only question is...in an automatic, which is mostly just a daily driver at 35-55mph, but still wanting to blow off the line!...
Which gear size do I go with 4.30 or 4.10?

4.30 for sure! If you are talking just going from 0-60 or even 0-100 I would go with a 4.56 ratio. The only reason most people stop at 4.10 is because they either have power adders or more importantly they like to take their cars to the track.

Hmm...ok so what is the difference between 4.56 and 4.30? How does 4.10 help you at the track?
All I can figure is the higher gear size increase potential mechanical damage...and track racing puts alot of stress on the car. They have a seasonal drag strip here, but I don't think you get to race against another car. I think it's mostly time trials.
