Default Victory in comfort!!! Seat modification Win!

So my stock seat is 10 years old and was extremely uncomfortable! The 2 metal brackets that provide the structure for the cushion were stabbing me in the back of each of my thighs. It was uncomfortable and painful.

I'm not a BIG guy, but I'm not small either. So for us bigger guys this is a great modification:

I unbracketed the Seat, removed the seatback, took off the electric bracket, the upholstery and cushion.

When I had just the brackets revealed I took that section to a local welder. He cut about 1" to 1&1/2" of space out of the middle of the bracket and rewelded it (now considerably shorter...therefore unable to stab me in the legs while still holding in the cushion)

I put the cushion back on (with some cottony foam stuffed up in above the now shorter brackets, and a large 1&1/2" square pillowish cushion over the whole top of the cushion (like a pillow top mattress).

I put the upholstery back on, rebracketed it and BAM!!! Instant comfort! I feel like I'm riding on a fluffy cloud now.

If you're having this problem this is a much cheaper alternative to rushing out and buying new Corbeau seats or some other seat swap out.

I've never seen anyone do that with these seats before. That's pretty cool!

Thanks Mrtstang, I needed an instant fix and I have higher priorities than expensive new seats(money-wise) as you have seen from my other posts. However, comfort-wise/ability to completely love my mustang-wise, this was the highest on the list. And the love/hate relationship with my car is all love now

I went economical and a little do-it yourself to accomplish my goal. The guy at the upholstery shop let me hang out there (because when they tried to fix it themselves on friday they didn't address the brackets and it was the same old problem over the weekend) so I made a few suggestions here and there, and took it to get it welded myself, and I ended up with a very nice seat modification.

Good to hear! Hard to enjoy our cars, when they're literally a pain in the a$$.
