The scoop was designed for looks, not function. That being said it isnt attached to the hood well enough to take that kind of pressure. The cdc kit i believe is almost $800 so to me thats not really an option either. You can getca nice hood for about half that.

You definitely don't want to mess with the hood scoop. My buddy thought it would be cool to take out the honeycomb part (so it would at least look functional) only to realize that it weakened the integrity of the scoop, and totally destroyed it.

I thought about doing this too after I saw someone's cardomain page. He took a drill bit and drilled out every hole in the honeycomb and cut a hole in the hood under the scoop. I would think it would help temperatures but no real performance gain. I would be worried about rain getting into the intake.

If the cdc hood is too much for you then find something else. spend the money on what you want to spend on. When I got the cdc kit I myself didnt expect it to add 80rwhp to my car just like if I added a cowl hood wouldnt automaticly turn my car into a beast. I just know to me personally it looked alot better than the fake scoop that came on the car so my main reason for getting it was bc I liked how it looked. Hacking into your factory scoop could cause a few issues.

I think the stock hood looks terrible....With my wing off, my car looks like a bullet. Then you get to the hood and you got this ugly piece of **** sticking up out of nowhere throwing off all my body lines.

The only options for a working hood hole are pretty much limited to heat extraction. The mach stuff is for the most part just for looks, even though it does work to some degree. If your going to go that route, go OEM, the CDC kit looks like ***.

Im looking for a 99-01 cobra/03-04 v6 hood to put on my car. All you have to do is remove the rubber on the reverse scoop and you have a working heat extractor. Not bad for something you can get for free.

The cdc plastic applique that lays flat on the hood around the shaker doesnt appeal to everyone some even paint match i to their car. But I eneded up going with the mach1 hood and ditching the stock hacked up hood with the applique laying on it. No complaints and nothing but compliments

Yea thats my big gripe with the kit is the way they made it all come together. I have a CDC styling bar, but the stupid overlay they have is just sub par. For the cost of the kit, you should get a new hood with it...

Yea that thing was $749 when i got it back in 05 and that plastic peice came flying off when I was going well over 100mph for an extended period. The replacement hood looks alot better though. But that kit is overpriced for what it is.
