Default 03 GT squealing sound - new belt tensioner maybe?

Hello fellow stang owners, I've been ran into an annoyance on my way to school today and figured I'd see if anyone else has had the same experience.

While driving I hear a squealing/squeaking noise, and as my tack is going up, the frequency of the squeaking goes up.

My uncle whose a mechanic said it's probably the belt tensioner and I more than likely need a new one. Although I figured I'd ask you guys and see if maybe it could be something else.

Hoping one of you guys has had this issue before and any tips are greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Not to mention, it is also like sub 20 degrees here every day, I was thinking that maybe my belt was just making that noise due to it being so damn cold outside, lol.

Well if the belt is relatively new, then chances are your uncle is right.

The belt was put on this past New Year's Eve. So that would explain it then.

Thanks

I been having the same issue I believe it is the tensioner. It usually happens when the car is cold. Once the car has warmed up it goes away so Im assuming its not the belt. This is what mine sounds like

When my car made the same type of sound, it was the tensioner. I've also had a water pump bearing that went bad and made a similar noise that went away when warm.

I just replaced the tensioner pulley, idler pulley, and also added a new belt. Mine wasn't a squealing sound, it was more of a chirping sound. But the replacement took care of it whatever it was lol
