Default How long do your slicks last?

Hey guys,
Just a general question about slicks for yas. I'll be picking up a set of v6 wheels for my car(IRS equipped with 03 cobra brakes), that I'd like to run slicks on for the track(Just for ***** and gigs). But come winter time, I dd my car so I'm gonna run snow tires on them. Ideally, will a set of slicks wear out in a season of racing with the occasional trip to the track or will they be good for multiple seasons? Because the way I see it, just keep the slicks on those wheels until fall, take them off for the snow tires, then put the slicks back on come spring. I figure I can get a couple seasons out of each, wouldnt you think?

Any comments are much appreciated. Will also be keeping regular street radials up front, even though the back are going to be Hoosier QTP's. Wiggle isnt of concern seeing that right now I'm a bolt-on GT trapping MAYBE 105.

Well now that I have the IRS and everything is coming together, I'll probably be going a couple times a season, mostly in the spring and fall though. Trying to figure out my slick situation before I go to mustang week this summer though so I can bring my slicks with me.

And just so you guys know, I'm wanting to run a slick because ripple wall slicks are easier on half shafts than drag radials and hook better too. Its simply to save half shafts, or I would be running drag radials.

I mean yea i think they'd last a few seasons. I mean if you went every weekend i wouldn't think so but I think you'll be ok with em.

And i was wondering why you were runnin slicks w/ ur IRS but you already answered that lol.

(God this makes me want to beef um the rear so i can put a tire on it!) I wanna know what your car will run w/ slicks!

Well it's getting 4.10's, longtubes and o/r x, udp's, and maybe tb/plenum to run with the slicks. I'd like to pull off a 13.5 or lower. Lol I know my car is gonna be slow as ***** but oh well. I'm gonna have fun. Plus it will be nice to have the tires when I go for more power.

Teej are you saying you'd like to pull at least a 13.5 with the slicks? If so i would think more like a 13 flat at bare minimum with the mods listed and v6 rims.

My buddy ran a 13.4 w/ full boltons stock gears and DRs with a conservitive launch. Think he was cutting like 1.9 60ft?

So i think you should be better w/ the gears and a more aggressive launch.

Dude i ran a 13.3 @ 104 with a 2.0 60ft. before my cams. With slicks alone i would have to guess that a 1.7-1.8 60ft. would be easily doable.

Well I'm a convertible, with an IRS, and road racing suspension. My goal is a 13.5. Lol also, not much seat time at the track either. So I'm sure it will take a while to get used to the track.

Lol once you hit the track for the first time it is a whole other experience. My times the first time out were laughable as all hell.
