Default Finally ran the nitrous

I just got back from the track where I finally had the chance to run my nitrous system. I have never ran a car with nitrous so I have no idea if my times are any good or not. Heres my times.

1st Run/No Nitrous: 14.745 @ 96.747 mph
2nd Run/Nitrous: 14.017 @ 104.523 mph
3rd Run/Nitrous: 13.945 @ 104.750 mph

Like I said, I have no idea if these are good times with a 100 shot so everybody who has nitrous please let me know. I will post the time slips tomorrow because I have no time right now. Bed is calling me, I have to get up in about 5 hours for a 14 hour work shift.

...seems slow. Looking at the ET's and trap speeds though I'm guessing you had issues with traction.

Your car seems like it can run deep into the 13's with good traction.

I wouldn't worry too much about not running a particular et/mph. What you should be looking at now is the jump in et/mph while on the nitrous. This will show you how much it is helping your car. The et drop was .8 of a second and you picked up a solid 8 mph. Pretty good gains for a 100 shot.

A little practice and your et's will get better and your mph will probably come up a bit more. Good job for your first nitrous runs!

I agree with Tim, don't sweat the numbers right now. A .8 sec drop and 8 mph gain is very typical of a 100 shot.

Here are all my times from lastnight. Damn scanner wouldn't work properly so I will just do this the hard way.

1st Run/No Nitrous 2nd Run/Nitrous 3rd Run/Nitrous

Reaction: .190 / .269 / .332
I1: 2.128 / No Time / 2.104
I2: 6.175 / 6.139 / 6.025
I3: 9.485 / 9.207 / 9.118
MPH (I3) 74.435 / 81.193 / 80.635
I4: 12.246 / 11.724 / 11.664
E.T. 14.745 / 14.017 / 13.945
MPH: 96.747 / 104.523 / 104.750

My tires are actually hooking up so I am not spinning on takeoff. But I am worried about one thing. My car is an automatic and before i started using the nitrous my car would shift at 6500 RPM's when WOT, a little too high for my liking. When I used the nitrous, the car would shift around 7000RPM's, really not liking that. I think my times would be better if my car would shift at a lower RPM, say around 6000 RPM's. True?? On a good note, I did beat my buddies Z28 camaro on the last two runs, which he hated. Any pointers and suggestions will be appreciated.

With your mods 7000 rpm on the juice is WAY overkill, and dangerous to the motor as well. Even 6500 n/a is too much. 6000 rpm would be much more ideal.

In the meantime i would not spray it with 7K shift points. That's an accident waiting to happen.

I tried adjusting my shift points with my handheld a few weeks ago but after I did, the car wouldn't shift right. So if anybody has a sct handheld, and has adjusted their shift point, let me know how you did it.

7000 rpm on juice, and it held together. Personally that would bother me a lot. But i'm probably a little chicken s**t on that. I don't have the money for a forged bottom end right now and if I blow mine up it will be sitting for a while. Looks like you picked up some speed and lowered your time on the juice and thats the point of it, Congrats on getting it going, and going out and having fun and the track. Beating you buddy in a Camaro is a plus too

Ever since I started getting tunes from bama, my car has been shifting at high rpms when wot. Its driving me crazy and Im afraid my engines going to blow. Before the tunes it shifted in the 5000 rpm range. I need to figure out how to lower the shift points before I hit the track again with the nitrous.
