I think a general rule of thumb is around every 20k miles or couple years, whichever is first.
Mine is at around both, and recently (within the last 1000 miles) I was cruising at 3k in 5th on the freeway for almost a half hour-ish and when I got off the freeway, the shifter felt kind of ****ty when rowing through the gears...like there was more resistance because the trans got hot (or old fluid). I'm thinking with new fluid that won't happen to that degree for a while but we'll see.

Been a long while but have a question regarding trans fluid.
My car has 4.10s and when I am on the highway for about 20-30 minutes (so think rpm's at 2500+), the shifter does not move in and out of gears as smooth as if I was just driving in the city. It feels like there is actual resistance. Same as above in 2011, so I am thinking it is trans fluid related.
I had the clutch replaced so I don't remember what fluid specifically is in the car, but have you guys experienced that with your cars? Where the shifter is more reluctant to moving due to heat? Because I want to try a new fluid but I'm not sure if its the fluid, or if thats just the nature of spinning at a higher rpm on the freeway.
