Default 1st gear shifting question

when you guys are casually driving around and your at a stop when do you shift out of first to get a good momentum going. call me a noob but a couple months after i got my GT i realized if i shift at around 3500 it puts me in a good range for second gear(around 2500 or so) when the rpms drop down. this isnt for WOT or racing just to be quick and up to speed. For me i go out of 1st at 3000-3500 then out of 2nd at 3000 then out of 3rd is usually 2200 and 4th i let out at 2000 i dont really see much of 5th gear in the suburbs.

Unless I come to a complete stop I don't even use 1st gear. But just puttering around which doesn't happen very often I would say I usually shift around 3-3,500 for 1-2 shift.

I granny my car most of the time and shift into second at 2300-2400rpm. I would shift sooner, but I would get run over around here if I did that. Mild application of throttle and short shifting doesn't get you up to cruising speed real quick.

Agreed! No matter how I'm driving, I usually shift first to second around 3200-3400. However, i'm rarely in first.

Usually I shift around 3k. If tarffic is heavy I shift a little earlier and putt along cause I cant go anywhere anyway. Might change when I get the car back on the road with the new gears and tune.
