What RPM works best for you?

Yes. Once wet, the tires will spin easily in 2nd gear. To get the tires heated, you want the additional surface feet per minute that 2nd gear gives vs 1st gear.
Once the tires begin spinning, just apply a slight pressure to the brakes to keep the car from advancing forward. To finish the burnout just let off the brake and let the car advance a little before you let off the gas.
The comment about Cobra rpms vs GT rpms is correct. You may want to try a slightly higher rpm to begin with.
GOOD LUCK!!!

i go at 5500 but with slicks and a built rear. With Drs i think what everyone else is saying is your best way to go. You gotta play around alittle with the tire pressure and the launching rpm. Also you need to get some better control arms. The po;y poly ones are not really much better than stock. And as far as the tree timing it doesnt really matter because your time doesnt start til you cross the sensor on the track so you could wait as long as you want and launch and still get the same time you did with a better reaction time.

usually do a GOOD 2nd gear burn out, shallow stage (creep forward until the 2nd staging light JUST comes on), rev to about 3600ish and slip the clutch and floor it. my car with 4.10's wanted to pull out to 5500 so thats where i shifted (idk it made good power for an NPI...).
heres a vid of me launching my old 95, you can hear me slip the clutch for the first ~60 ft. that was launching at 3000 on crappy Fuzion street tires and i STILL pulled off a 2.018 60 ft.
trial and error bro.

i dont wanna hear nothing about how slow it is, stock 5.0 longblock and 3.08 gears bite me lol

Do what everyone else has already said. But if I where you I would worry about figuring out the tree the first couple of runs. you don't want to be that idiot that stages with his rear tires. You are going to be pretty excited and scared your first run (kinda like when you saw you first set if real ****). If your worrying about the Tree and what RPM and how to pre -stage all on your first run it might overload you. Just get the tree and work your way up to holding perfect RPM for launch. just my .02

Okay so my first run was okay... 1st gear burnout. Left the line at 3.5k. Cut a 2.0 60' and finished with 13.7.
Second run was better. 2nd gear burn and left a little above 4k cutting a 1.90 60'. Finishing with 13.37.
Third run was best. Left the line at nearly 5k cutting a 1.87 60' and finishing 13.29!
That was awesome!
