Time to New Mexico proof the stang! cooling upgrades!
So of course the desert is taking it's tole on my poor car. So I have a new plan of action under way. On the way are a 3 row Mishimoto radiator, redesigned mishimoto brackets to prevent radiator from cracking, moroso coolant expansion tank, gates upper and lower hoses and a new motocraft cap :) Can't wait to put this in next weekend but I know it's going to be a PIA. May upgrade fans in the stock one starts to be a pain to get in lol.

That is a great addition for the heat, but what are you going to do about an intercooler for the blower? Mine has made a huge difference.

Off topic...
I'll be living in NM for the next few years of my life very soon :( Do you have 93 octane over there? I might need to prepare mine for the desert heat as well. |
If you're having heat issues you should definitely be looking into a FMIC or WMI setup.... or both.

Nice don't worry its an easy swap.

sweet! should work well

180* t-stat and intercooler will help too. Nice mods though!

No 93 octane here. They only sell 91 because it's such a high elevation. Yeah eventually I plan to intercool the car but it's a ways off and the closest tuner I trust is 8 hours drive away. I have methanol right now and it does a killer job with the intake temps when you do decide to open her up. Never heard a bit of detonation and data logging shows great intake temps once it starts to spray. The tune has been left conservative as well.
It will be a while before upgrading to an intercooler bc I will need a new pulley, BAP, MAF and of course intercooler at the least. Not to mention tuning. I am adding an HO fibertrends cowl hood very soon to also help underhood temps. |

The Elevation in New Mexico allows you to run lower octane. Think subtracting 5 to 7 inches of manifold pressure. My 91 tune ran fine on the 90 octane I found up there. I had my SCT stored in the spare tire well just in case though.
