Default what would you do? mach 1 C5Z06

I recently sold my 2008 Mustang GT and will be in the market in a few months to get a new car.

My original plans were to get a Termi but with miles under 40k and in stock form, they are getting harder to find and especially under 24k.

My Q is, if I cannot find a Termi, should I pay the lower price and get a 03-04 mach 1 or spend about 50% more to get a 02-04 C5 Z06.

Now I know that Z06 is faster and handles better but does it justify the jump in price? I can find a used Mach 1 in good condition with under 40k miles for about 13k whereas the Z06 would be 20k+.

All I am looking for in this car is to be a secondary, weekend car to have some fun with. I dont need a backseat and am not looking to take it to the track. Just want something to cruise around town with and have fun with.

Edit: Also, both cars I would pay for in cash so I would still have money left over to SC the mach 1...

honestly i don't think you'll have trouble finding a termi for that $, even if they are listed a little higher most ppl will take $24,000 now a days... you may have to drive a little but its worth it. My buddy sold an 04 with under 50k for like 22 and that was a year ago.

The 'vette is kinda badass, though. Are C6 LS2s in the same price range as C5 Z06s?

I havent done a whole lot of looking but from what I have seen, with similar miles, they are a few K higher.

Personally, the price range I am looking for is right around 20k. After looking more and more on craigslist, it seems a CObra is possible and since i know those cars are very strong, I have found a few with 45-60k miles for 20k or less.

For me, it doesnt matter if its conver or coupe, but what would it take for the Cobra to beat a C6 2005-08 vette?

how fast? what 1/4 mile times would I expect?

I am trying to learn as much as I can about the vette and have been looking around their forums but what I know from Cobras is that they have very strong motors and can get very good power for not a lot of money.....plus the motors are built to handle a ton of power....

The simple question is, do you like Vettes better than the Mustangs you mentioned? I tell ppl all the time that I'd rather have a Terminator than pretty much any Vette. It's not all about which is faster. If you're worried about speed, or potential speed, then get the Vette. But I like the style of the Terminator better, I like sitting more than 6 inches above the road and being more comfortable. I like being 1 of only 2 Terminators that I know of in my town, compared to the 100 or so Corvettes. I live in a very Vette-heavy area. I swear, every 50 year old guy here has a mid-life crisis Vette, and I'd be just another Vette in the crowd, rather than the only Terminator in the crowd. That counts for something...

yeah, now thinking about it....seeing a Cobra in my garage would be incredible. When I bought my 2008, it was to try to cure the urge to have a Termi but didnt quite cut it for me which is why I sold it.

Plus the sound of the V8 in the Cobra and the SC whine, I dont think is something I could ever get tired of.
