Default timing motor might need help...

i put in some pi cams and new valve seals.
heres what i did.
i took the heads off with the engine in safe mode. keyway at 9 oclock.

so to put this thing back together.
i stretched the chains out and marked the 2 endlinks on each.
I have the crank gears marked. at 9 o clock postion the crank gear marks are at 5 oclock give or take.

im doing driver side first, so all i do is line up the mark on chain with crank gear, stretch chain to cam gear and rotate the cam til it the mark on the cam gear lines up with the chain?

safe mode seemed to be best since i have to rotate the cams to get the marks to line up.
am i doing this right?
thanks
