Are these good starter mods?

I've just acquired a '98 GT and have about 6-$700 to buy some starter engine mods.. I'm considering these:

-Cold air intake
-70mm Throttle Body
-Plenum
-Intake Spacer

Are these good as my first engine modifications? Will they go well together and about how much of a difference will I notice with all these things coming from stock? Any suggestions for better, low-budget mods?

Thanks.

That's the normal start but I would scratch that and invest in some gears...

Well I'd rather avoid changing gears right now as they're a pain in the ass to change if I understand correctly, but if it's enough of a difference I'd be willing to do it. Which of the 4 things I chose would be best exchanged for gears? And how much would 3.73s lower my gas mileage?

Most people are going to tell you to get gears first. Either 3.73 or 4.10. These cars come with 3.27 stock.

Skip the cold air intake (CAI). I got mine as my first mod before I knew anything. The aftermarket CAI will not be that much different from the one already on your car.

Hope this helps and welcome!

Well if you dont want to do gears I did exhaust first..... but i was going for sound and not performance. Install was simple and you could have a nice set up with that budget.

I noticed you have magnapacks.. Good man. I'd actually love to get some but they're god awful expensive compared to how much I'd pay for other sounds (dronemasters, etc.). Worth it to skip the engine mods and go for magnapacks first? Installation for everything isn't an issue as I do it all myself and have the lift and tools to do so.

Gears are definatly worth it. I have 4.10 and I get 23-25mpg's average per tank mix city highway driving.

skip the cold air intake and spacer and go for a PI intake at the vary least.

I shopped around and got the magnapacks for $400. Got the o/r x pipe for $180 so around $600 for the whole set up new. Was it worth it? For me it was. It really depends on what you want and your goals for your car.

It'd definitely be worth it at that price. Where did you get them? Do you remember the site?
