2001 GT Brake Upgrade?
#11
IIRC the banjo bolt for the brake line is different... one is coarse thread and one is fine thread. Other than that, cobra calipers will bolt up. If you do get the calipers, you also have to upgrade the rotors though.

You will need the Cobra caliper mounting brackets too. Some "loaded" calipers come with the brackets, most do not...

Pardon me if this has already been answered 500 times, but I did try to search to find my answer and could not. I want to upgrade the brakes on my 2001 GT Convertible to either the Bullitt or Cobra set up. Some of these part suppliers make kits, but I am not willing to spend $1400.00. I was wanting to go buy some rebuilt calipers from my local parts store, use the red caliper paint, upgrade the rotors to drilled and slotted and possibly stainless hoses. Does anybody have any advice about what works best? Are there simple bolt-on solutions using rebuilt parts? My car is in awesome shape for a 2001, but I cannot afford some of the prices of these brake upgrades. Thanks!
That is to say, what will you be doing that requires an upgrade to brakes? DD, some open-track use, AX.... Texas mile? There is nothing wrong with OEM calipers/rotors, they just need some upgrades that will cover you in all but the extreme cases of use. Hit up Brakes upgrade (siga) and will be the best $300 or so you have ever spent on your ride
