running 110 or 112 octane??

so the shop that i work at just recieved 2 barrels of 110 octane and 112 octane sunoco race fuel. my question is can i run it in my car? i have a sct tuner to get a tune but will i need anything else like plugs?

Mods to make it worth your while is what you need. Your oxygen sensors are not going to last long either. Lead in the fuel will make them malfunction. Until you run at least a big shot or boost, I wouldn't bother running it. Its not worth it.

^ TJ is 100% spot on. Although, if your thinking about dynoing the stang (100 octane) will give you a few extra ponies on the print-out sheet :) (wouldn't even consider anything higher.... TJ explained it) Otherwise, even then 100 octane isn't worth buying with what you have done (based on your mod list).

ya dont waste that stuff or your money on it without a tune...your car can only componsate for so much on its own and it ends up just being a waste... your O2's could last a day or a year just all depending but it ill eat them up

Actually, you might see a drop in power from not being tuned for the added octane gas. The gas will ignite later and might not all burn off til the combustion is done. So to say you might gain power just from switching is not accurate. But yea, no need for 100+ until much more power.

ooh ok so basiclly im f**kddd till i go into my lower end for a bigger shot to use high octane. i thought higher octane would help out

If that's true, then i am an exception to the rule. Because I was okay. Granted, i wouldn't try it again but i wanted to see. :icon_toast:

Race gas is meh the stuff is way to expensive even if you are at power levels were I am 600+ rwhp if you want high octane go with e85 it is cheaper and makes similar hp numbers.

LilRoush 07-11-2011 08:56 PM

E85 is the way to go instead of 110/112.
Having it at a shop doesn't mean it's worth while. If you do "need" it as some point, get it from your local airport instead. They'll have 110LL for you cheaper than a race shop.

Well for him the power gains aren't really worth the change. I mean even still for us Bolton folk, he might gain 10rwhp from the swap. But does that justify the loss of fuel mileage? For 99.9% probably not.
