Sumi's are an excellent dd tire. IF that's all you plan on doing. They don't grip for ****. But they're cheap as hell!

My old sumi's were more wide than my 555r's. Just sayin.

Those F1's are super wide!

The only tire I will ever suggest for DD duty on a street car, even if it has a blower on it, are the Nitto NT555's. I've had them on my car and my friend has had them on his 03 Cobra for over a year now. They were great for me and they do very well for being on a 600rwhp car for him. They run very close to right on the money and they cannot be beat for their price range. I have seen people get 30k miles out of them. Typically the Sumi's everyone gets only get maybe 12-15k miles out of them if they're lucky. So you can buy 2 sets of sumi's and pay more, or get 1 set of NT555's and pay less. You're choice.

By going with the NT555's over the Sumitomo's, you would spend $142 more for all four, have a much better tire, and would have a longer lasting tire. The NT555's have a treadwear rating of 300, the HTRZ's have a treadwear of 160. However, the Nitto's will hook better and last longer than the Sumitomo's. I believe Michelin coined the phrase "Because there's a lot riding on your tires". Well...the tires are the only thing that meets the road on your car, so why skimp out on those?

I had 24k on my sumi's and they had a fair amount of tread left. If you drive like a sane person, they last. Yea they spin easy...so don't drive like a ricer.

HTR Z II's have a treadwear rating of 360, and HTR Z III's is 300.. Just sayin...

EDIT: Also just discovered the HTR A/S (all-season) also has a treadwear of 360

We're talking HTRZ's, none of the ones you listed. I said that in my post. Talking the el cheapo wheel/tire kit tires, not the tires that cost the same price as the Nittos.

I would choose a nitto tire any day over a sumitomo.

i seriously considered buying nittos, but the HTR Z II's were $111 a piece shipped at tire rack, whereas the best price i could find on 555's at the time was $145 (and trust me, i shopped around quite a bit).

What size nittos? 245/45-17 I found on Discounttiredirect.com for $127 and DTD does free shipping for SVTP forum members. IDK about here but they are usually the best price for tires as far as I know.

i got my HTR Z II's for 78$ shipped each from tire rack a couple years back, best on the nittos was like 130 something. only reason i'm still running them. once i get the cash for a set of 18's i'm goin nitto... assuming i can find them at a good price. last i checked there were plenty of other tires in the same price range that were just as good. not sure if i wanna run the 555's tho, i've heard both good and bad about them. guy has em on his c6 vette and says they dont hook for crap.
