315 sumitomo tires?
i was really interested in the 17'' black FR500 rim + tire package american muscle has as a hot buy! but i looked at the pics and these sumitomo tires really don't look like 315's and more like 275s... i looked at nitto's NT05R 315's and that's what i call a 315 tire.. or is it just me?
& would it probably be better for me to buy the fr500's without the tires and buy those nitto's seperately?

There are more than one model of Sumitomo tires, pepes... which ones we talkin' 'bout?
I know that HTRZ offer zero additional grip over the 275's, as the tread blocks only have additional space between them. They are the most often featured in "package deals" Either way, I will ALWAYS ask the following question when someone is looking to buy new shoes....
Tires should be chosen by the driver's needs, yet decided by the budget... what are they?
Jazzer
PS. I don't feel like looking it up at AM... lol

Jazz, they usually put the low end ones on their package tire deals.
They should be in theroy, but they aren't. Some companies run wide, some run right on the money, and some run narrow. For example, my 265/35 BFG KDW was physically wider than my 275/40 Kumho. But BFG is known for running wide. Nitto tends to run right on or a bit narrow depending on the tire style.

You can't just compare apples to apples, but you must compare Granny Smith apples to Granny Smith apples here. The 315 is only one number in the equation. Check Jazzer's links... he has a lot of real good information in there.
And yes, some GS apples can be a little bigger or a little smaller than other GS apples, and some can taste better than others... but at least then you are using a more valid comparison than just apples to apples, or even worse, apples to oranges
On another related note, I had Sumis before, but they weren't the lowest end ones either. While I don't have a whole lot to compare them to, I thought they were good for the price. The only complaint I had is true of any UHP 'summer' tire... they wore a lot faster than I would have liked (not necessarily faster than others, just faster that I would have liked).
