Default mods mandatory for a '02 mustang gt automatic

I am getting a 2002 124k miles automatic but . engine and tranny feels good. exterior and interior looks great. I am not a car racer, just a mustang fan. Have own a 2000 std ,2002 stdand 89 std. So it is my first automatic and other than the Jmod what else is necessary to make it a little bit more reponsive out from the parking .
Also some folks has told me to not touch the transmission until it breaks appart. So then I can made all mods I want but How many miles can be for good with this transmmision been treated well?

any comments?

Contrary to popular belief, no mods are MANDATORY for these cars. Ford actually designed them to run right off the show room floor.

Thank you all for the three answers , so No headers, nor intake , no high flow cats at all? Only 4.10 gears?

long tube headers and high flow mid pipe work great.

Depends upon how the previous owners treated the car. If good...well into the 200K.
-Stall
-gears
-trans cooler
-cams
-tune

You do those 5 and you'll have a Badd azz ride.

These 4r70w transmissions hold up really well if they are taken care of. I agree with most people in here. If you want a bit more performance out of a new edge automatic gt, the first few mods should be:

-gears, tune, trans cooler, stall converter, exhaust, cams........(in that order) Definitely do not do cams or much intake mods until you have a higher stall converter.

Why do you say don't do the cams until after you do the stall converter

Aftermarket cams will shift the hp/torque curves to the right in the rpm range. If you do not compensate with a higher stall speed, you can actually have a slower car.
