Question 2002 MUSTANG GT NAVIGATION INSTALL POSSIBLE?

ok guys is it possible to install navigation into a 2002 mustang gt conv with mach audio in it with a new 2005-2012 navigation unit like shown here

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2008-...fAudioQ5fVideo

if so does anybody have any idea how to pull this off? i hate aftermarket headunits and nav but i love the oem ford factory from the newer mustangs. i really hope somebody can figure out how to do this and actually get the nav to work on this car with that new nav system i think that would really be something special!! thanks!

I was wondering the same thing earlier when I saw one for sale in the F/s section on here... I've always wanted a Nav system and my stock headunit is on its way out and if this is possible then it would be the best of both worlds.

cant wait for an answer

I don't see why this wouldn't work, you would just have to get a hold of the right wire harness. I would suggest getting a nice aftermarket unit though. I just put a Kenwood nav/dvd/tv/mp3/ipod headunit in...

I would advise getting a decent aftermarket double din too. I picked up an aftermarket pioneer double din headunit. Gps,dvd, nav, sat radio, bluetooth all that crap can be had with an aftermarket unit. Unless the op was saying he doesn't care too much for the single din aftermarket unit. But I've seen a few of those factory headunits from the newer stang for sale already I guess the question is why are they getting rid of theirs to get an Aftermarket unit maybe....

I'd love to have built in nav. My sense of direction is ****. I've never messed around with audio stuff, how hard is it to install? I assume it wouldn't just plug right in and requires some wiring?

its really not too hard just color matching, splicing, connecting the wires, and stashing some wires of things like the bluetooth and nav wire etc.. but if you wouldnt want to tackle it alot of audio shops will install them. bc its not something you want to wire up wrong and damage some things if you're not comfortable with it.

yeah im not a fan of aftermarket units at all lol and the navigation unit i wanted (2008-up ford oem nav) is 3/4 in too high for the mach headunit opening so that wouldnt work unless somebody could work with fiberglass really well and make a new cutout but im really really really picky with my car lol

In this case, though, I'd think you be better off with aftermarket. Esp since the 2008 OEM HU you're looking at is moreso compatible with the Shaker system than the Mach system. The two systems are totally different and you might be shooting yourself in the foot installing the 08 HU with a Mach sound system. But anything is possible if you have money. But for 375, you could find a much better aftermarket HU that does more than the one you're looking at. I'd think you'd be getting ripped off paying for that 08 one, personally.
