Best way to remove GT and FORD emblems on trunk lid?
#11
Preparation, you just cant do enough of it.
I removed the emblems, and masked off the top cutoff line, then took the tape and built it up over the wing, and down the sides. popped the trunk and layed an old blanket across the trunk and down the bumper.
I used a 1000 grit sanding pad and wet sanded the trunk where the emblems were, and in the center where the plate goes. Then 3 seperate wipe downs with 3 seperate lint free rags and rubbing alcohol.
Then in indirect sunlight, and as low of humidity as I can muster in florida...I carefully applied a light coat, then immediately followed by a thicker top coat.
The trick is, unless you want to sand it all back off and do it over...cover all your bases. If its too humid or too hot, it will bubble.
If its not totally clean, it will bubble.
Go too fast or too slow, it will run.
