Right on Cliff. I was just justifying why I said 6 To be sure I'd have to climb under the car and have a look. I'm sure your're right. I just assumed that 99-04's were all the same exhaust-wise.

As always I'm ever greatful for your shop manual references. Nobody posts responses with quite the quality that you do brutha. And I'm sure you never tire of the praise. Otherwise you'd leave us amateurs to ourselves on here.

How restrictive would you say this stock header/mid-pipe set up is...with my open exhaust SSS mufflers?

As I understand the history of it the '99s were kind of "rushed out the door" by the marketing department, because of the update Camaro's got in 1998.

Most likely the with the PI updates the engine control system had not yet been fully vetted and to make the EPA happy they loaded up on the cats...

Ok, but you didn't answer my question:

Here's a short summary of what I've done since I got the car (an '03 GT) on Pearl harbor day in 2006:

With minor changes (see below) I went from 220/243 rwHP/lbft to 228/265 with a noticeable difference at higher revs--this was in January of 2007.

The changes were:
  • Change 2-1/2" off/road H-pipe that came with the car to a UPR catted X-pipe;
  • Change Flowmaster 40s welded in to the stock catback with DynoMax 1-1/2" pipes and MagnaFlow mufflers;
  • Get rid of the el-cheapo "eBay" CAI the previous owner installed and replace it with a stock intake from a local junk yard;
  • New plugs (Champion single platinum stk # 3401);

This was with the stock tune--YMMV of course.

The next step was to use Delta Forces Special Forces system to load a "93-octane" tune and bump the timing a bit more than their base custom tune; and installation of the Pro Products 70 mm TB and upper plenum This got me to 246/276 in June of 2007 (after I fixed the pig rich condition I created by playing the the fueling w/o a wideband O2 system).

Further tweaking of the tune after upgrading to DF Commando pushed it up to 252/295 on Halloween of 2007.

My last dyno run in the Fall of 2010 came in at 262/305, running 24 lb/h FRPP injectors and a fully optimised tune (DF Commando) with a tweaked MAF map, tuned in injector slope and spark table settings. I also had installed the Steeda UDPs which do make a difference on an inertial dyno.

I have flashed what has become my basic tune to at lest 1/2 dozen dead stock new-edge GTs (5-speed's all) and never once had an owner come back from their first drive without a grin...[/QUOTE]

Cliffy... as you are half way local, I have to ask... what does it take to get your 'basic' tune?

I have a few mods done, and the tuner really wakes the car up.

although im gonna be saying goodbye to it next year most likely...and hello to an SN95 cobra

That's awesome man. If I owned an SN95 I would go Cobra too. They are the most affordable non-fox Cobra's out there.

It's just if I were to go to a manual then I'd have to get a Termi 03-04. But to be honest at around $20,000 I'd rather just buy a $5000 SC for my GT.

Did you know you can get a used Viper for $26,000. I saw it on Yahoo and sure enought they were right:

So at that cash I'd rather have a friggin' Viper than even a Termi.

Are you in an automatic or a manual? The way I understand it, automatics benefit most from a tuner because it greatly improves shifting points.
